Shards
Shards are the currency. A new point of interest, a picture spot, or a first photo of a catalogued entity pays 15. Ten minutes online pays 20. A random emote costs 200. The cap is 5,000.
How you earn them
V2.3 on 25 Sep 2026 added shards. Patch 2.4 added the 5,000 cap. The idle payout dropped from 30 to 20 per 10 minutes in patch 2.43, and the coat-hanger payouts dropped in the same patch. I keep both the old and the current numbers because the update log records the change.

Crystals
Crystals show up in search next to shards. I do not have a second page that gives crystals a separate balance, price, or sink, so I am not inventing a conversion rate. If you meant the glowing pickup, the documented currency is shards.

They buy random emotes at 200 and soda at 25. They do not buy gamepasses.

Spend them at the emote shop and the soda machine. Earning them is automatic when you log a point of interest or a photo.
